Valentine's Day was on Monday and was filled with exchanging cards and little gifts with the kids, snuggling a sick baby (don't worry I think he's finally on the mend), eating heart shaped pizza with Jaymeson and his class, swimming lessons, Chipotle for dinner at home, chocolate and roses. It was such a great day.
Marcus and I decided to wait and venture out for some fine dining, without kids, on Tuesday. It was a much needed date for the two of us, especially since it seems like those times are few and far between.
I'd like to get back, though, to the little gifts given to the kids, particularly the one gift that Jaymeson has had his eye on for some time.
That's right.
A clock.
The kind where the alarm hammer goes back and forth.
Loudly.
He's been persistent in asking for this and I thought, perfect.
It's not another toy to be collected and he can learn to tell time.
Right.
Great idea.
Do you know that this clock can also be used for pretend fire and rescue emergencies,
or to alarm everyone that he is up from a nap while his little brother is still sleeping,
or to alarm when Mommy is reading a book and is not paying attention to him and he has something to say or show,
or when he's requesting that it's now time to play together,
or that he's hungry?
Yep, it's been a "perfect" gift.
So much so that I have threatened to throw it away if he sets that alarm off one more time.
P.S. I'd also like to pass along a lesson that I learned yesterday.
If your child is screaming for you to save him from a spider crawling up your bedroom wall, and if you have just allowed that child to drink a full glass of strawberry milk in your bed, instead of sitting at the kichen table, do not scare the said child with the spider you just caught.
Unless you need an excuse to wash all your bedding.
Thanks.
