Kindergarten

September 6, 2011
Jaymeson's first day of Kindergarten!
We've been talking about this day for a long time.
New clothes. Check.
New shoes. Check.
New back pack. Check.
Fresh hair cut. Check.
Excited 5 year old. Check.

We prepared for the big day last evening with a few bedtime stories.
We talked about Kindergarten and how he'll always be my little boy.
(Even when he grows up to drive those big fire trucks.)
So, he woke up ready for this new adventure!
Little brother spent a little time with him this morning.
 We arrived at the school.

Found his classroom.

Put his backpack away in his cubby.

Got his name tag on.

And then waited for the teacher to come in.
At this point the nerves started to kick in.
And when he was told that all the parents had to go.....
he cried.
And so did I.
The teacher came and brought him over by her chair.

And he got some last minute reassurance from Daddy.

And he was on his own, to conquer the day.

Needless to say, I've been a nervous wreck today.
I'm hoping he's now having fun.
If not, this is going to be a long year.
He'll be there all day, every day.
Quite a change for us all.
Not to mention the two boys from his summer program, the bully and the disrespectful kid who thought I was a police officer and greeted me by saying, "Hi, Piiigggggg!" were also in his class!
Let's hope he made friends with the nice kids.

4 o'clock can't come soon enough today!

Update:
He's smiling.
Had a good day.
Makes me smile
and sigh with relief.
